Along with all the days out we have pretty much had a swim in the sea every day. There has been lots of singing by Julie and Maria, they are really good and have a knack of testing the accoustics in every place we’ve been. I have nicknamed them the Loo Singers after I came out of a cubical in a public toilet to find a Glaswegian woman filming them singing Wade in the Water! I hope Maria had done up her flies, she has form, allegedly!
The husband of said Glaswegian who was not in the toilets but, heard them outside. He asked if it was us singing as we emerged, then told us we were the wrong colour.
We’ve played “what am I?” and charades in the bar and reception of the Hotel. “What am I” was not Marie’s thing until she started to make up her own version. She tried it with Sue in the sea, shrieking with laughter, Julie and I had no idea what was going on, then the next day we were invited to their room……too embarrassing to enact in the bar….Their version of the Cesar Manrique Logo! I’ll leave you the logo and your imagination!
We have danced in the bar to a saxophonist and on the sea front to an Elvis impersonator. Sue was asked for a dance by a very drunk french woman who, when turned down was hugging herself as if dancing with someone else and soon joined by stoned french man.
One evening in the hotel there was a Spanish version of a pub singer, he was awful. We should have insisted Julie and Maria replace him immediately it would have been fantastic!
