New Zealand – You step on the road – part 3

When we left Hobbiton we headed back via Matamata, just to see the information office which was another Hobbit building, and worth a look at.

But we had another appointment, this time with the Mitai Maori.
This was an evening of Maori culture, history dance, martial arts and dinner. Again I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who may visit but I will put a video up, just a taster.

The compere was fantastic, he spoke a bit of every language of the nations present, include Hindi, Norwegian and Danish.
What I did glean was that there are 80 tribes on the North Island and ten in the South Island. The reason he gave was it was too cold in the South.
The dinner was cooked in a pit. There was loads of it and it was delicious. We were sat on a table with several other people and it was a very enjoyable evening.

  1. LORT “ Don’t adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on the story.” Wow what an experience, tradition and history count for such a lot and let’s hope it never gets lost it’s too precious! Xx🥰
