Australia – One more day in Brisbane

I had one more day in Brisbane and after exhausting the museum’s, art galleries and botanic gardens I decided I would try a walk along the Brisbane River.

I caught the Ferry across to an area called Teneriffe (no idea why as it was named by an English chap in the 1800’s). I then walked along a river path towards the city proper.

Along the way is a series of representations of the Heritage of the area (which is far more up-market than its humble beginnings).

This silver sheep is called Gloria, she’s representing the wool trade, she’s pretty magnificent.

There is also a stretch called the submariner’s walk where the seats are made of bits of ship or submarine.

As I bimbled along, which is all I could do in the heat I saw something that made me laugh aloud. A local authority with a sense of humour!

Then later I just had to stop at a cafe called “Eat Drink And Be Mary”. Not entirely sure Mary would approve but I did try!

Eventually I made it to the City. Of course I then had to cut across to get back to the ferry which was not as nice a walk but quite a bit shorter.

I said my goodbyes to Brisbane, to Ellen and her family and flew back to Cairns.
