Lily took our bags back to Taipei for us. She had things to do and we aimed to catch a bus back. We set off from Lily’s house we took a walk up to Teapot Mountain. It’s not very high and it was good to go out early as it seemed to be getting hotter again!!. The walk was lovely, we hardly saw anyone!

The views were amazing at the top looking west towards Taipei, (not that we could see that far) and then east out to sea!

We wandered back down and caught a bus back to Taipei. We assumed it went to the bus station but, no it stopped in a street a couple of kilometres away and the bus driver started shouting at us to get out! He had a queue to come on, he just didn’t seem to know how to deal with us!
We had time to kill in Taipei and to wandered Daan Park, near to where we would meet Lily later. It’s quite a nice space. Masses of Egrets and night herons roost here.

We also ambled to the 101 tower which is a must see for Japanese tourists apparently, it really doesn’t impress me that much. It’s supposed to look like a bamboo shoot I think! Hmm not sure about that! Underneath is a ‘high end’ shopping mall! Not my thing!
We met up with Lily later and took her for dinner. We chose the restaurant, it had good reviews. Almost immediately Lily was disagreeing with the recommendations by the owner and we ended up with a number of huge dishes that we couldn’t do any justice to! The food was amazing but, we needed help! We called Juliana (our other Servas host) who lived nearby, we should really have invited her, we just didn’t think! She arrived a short time later to take the dishes home for her boys and I’m so glad it didn’t go to waste! The owner was lovely and very curious about us four women and how we came to be together!
Lily then took us back through Daan Park ( right in the center rod the city) in the dark and we saw to my surprise fire flies! Only a few but, astonishing none the less!
Collecting our bags later, Lily showed us her roof garden Amaryllis collection. They were wonderful and all different varieties and colours and obviously not just for Christmas (for those not in the UK Amaryllis is a Christmas indoor flower)! I think she would have liked us to stay but we had already booked our hotel. We said our goodbyes to Lily and Blaka.

Next Taiwan, a road trip!
