Bolivia 5 – After affects, What We Came For!

We slept a short time. The women who look after the farm house took our clothes to wash them, we did try to rinse them but they were so muddy and smelling of swamp, it was barely possible!

I found a few more ticks on Jayne. Duston and the others had several too apparently, I think I may have been too cold and wet to have been attractive to them. Duston said they don’t carry disease here but I don’t believe him. Jayne was a mass of angry bites all over her back and legs.

I had hives, a reaction to the bites or fire ants I don’t know. My hands swelled but it was all localised and not that bad. Jaynes bites were angry looking, thank goodness I had antihistamine tablets and cream.

I didn’t tell Jayne until this point about the spiders that I had seen in my boat (I had the torch), presumably they fell from the trees and bushes some were big. I deliberately have not looked up spiders because right now I don’t want to know.

We didn’t want to miss another afternoon/evening wildlife watching because we paid a lot for this excursion. Really I should have stayed in bed, I already had a headache.

We had a quick meal, which neither of us felt like and then after being given the choice we went back to Wils farm in the Jeep in the office chance we would see a Jaguar. It was much quieter for bird life and animals that evening, it was as if our mood was affecting everything.

As the sun got lower, the light was good and suddenly the guys were shouting. Behind us a Jaguar climbed out of a ditch and sauntered into into a wooded field break. A beautiful male. I stood open mouthed and Jayne couldn’t get her camera out in time.

We all got out and sat  on the road in various spots, the jeep went to the bottom of the break and two guides began walking up. This was to try and flush it out. The jaguar stayed put and good for him, being badgered is not good conservation. I’m so pleased Jayne got to see it even if she couldn’t get a photo.

After this there was not so much to see and I was too tired and headachey to care.

Later I had a mouthful of dinner and went to bed.

Jayne went to bed late after watching footage of the camera traps on the Ranch. She had added a few more mosquito bites too! When she came into our room she said I was so quiet she had to check I was still breathing apparently!

Next the last day in San Miguelito
