A really short post but one I wanted to mention is the Stingless Honey Bee (Apidae: Meliponini). Native to Bolivia and the indigenous people here practice Meliponiculture for medicinal purposes although I don’t know specifically what it is.
San Miguelito have a couple of tiny hives that produce half a kilo of honey a season. I took the following video for my neighbours who keep bees now I cannot, to show the difference and the similarities
