Getting Ready For Ben Nevis

16th Aug 201918th Aug 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

I'm off again! This time it will be a short break to walk up Scotland's most famous mountain Ben Nevis at the end of September. However I need to get a bit of walking in first as I seem to find it harder to keep my fitness these days. I have read it can take … Continue reading Getting Ready For Ben Nevis

Australia – Addendum Frankland Islands Reef

14th Jun 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

As promised the photos of the Frankland Island Reef trip. The pictures are amazing and not taken by me! The photographer on the boat took all of these and its a great shame I don't know her name. I'll try and find it out and add it later. I have just realised this is my … Continue reading Australia – Addendum Frankland Islands Reef

Australia – Last Days

3rd Jun 20193rd Jun 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

So this is the end of my blog for now. After 3 months away from home I am looking forward to seeing my daughter and my friends. I am also wondering if I will find my house in a jungle of its own! I spent the last few days mooching about Cairns with Maya (Chinese). … Continue reading Australia – Last Days

Australia – Daintree revisited

1st Jun 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

Let me introduce Maya, Maya, Yuna and me! I hired a car to go back to the Daintree for a day and invited the girls from my digs. Although it rained pretty much all day and nearly all the board walks were up for repair, we had a good time. It was very interesting to … Continue reading Australia – Daintree revisited

Australia – Back to Cairns

1st Jun 20191st Jun 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

I think I landed on my feet in Cairns with regards to the accommodation. I am staying in a four room apartment. There is a pool and a lovely little garden. Currently there are three girls here too. A Japanese, a Chinese and a Korean. It sounds like the start of a bad joke I … Continue reading Australia – Back to Cairns

Australia – One more day in Brisbane

30th May 201930th May 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

I had one more day in Brisbane and after exhausting the museum's, art galleries and botanic gardens I decided I would try a walk along the Brisbane River. I caught the Ferry across to an area called Teneriffe (no idea why as it was named by an English chap in the 1800's). I then walked … Continue reading Australia – One more day in Brisbane

Australia – Warwick

30th May 201930th May 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

Ellen's parents live near Warwick. The area is beef country and in other areas its arable. Their home is on a hill in open Eucalyptus woodland and a really beautiful spot. I know it's not anything like Scotland but, it reminded me so much of where my mum and dad used to live in Aberdeenshire, … Continue reading Australia – Warwick

Australia – Gondwana for Ellie and Ethan

30th May 201930th May 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

This is a big topic to condense into a few words. It is truly mind blowing. Here we go, the earths crust is constantly moving and all land is moving in mega slow motion all the time, quite literally taking millions of years to move. At some points in time there is more land and … Continue reading Australia – Gondwana for Ellie and Ethan

Australia – Chiming Birds

30th May 201930th May 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

Ellen cleared her rather hectic schedule to a degree (no pun intended) and we headed inland for a couple of days. This was quite special because she had made time away from her immediate family too (I know this is often hard to do when your kids are at school). We drove out of the … Continue reading Australia – Chiming Birds

Australia – A day of culture

28th May 2019 by travellingbee45, posted in Uncategorised

Brisbane is lovely, as cities go. It has some lovely parks and green spaces. Just look at this amazing Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris) in Anzac Square. The Cities main feature though is the Brisbane River. Its meandering is not as smooth as the Thames or some other major cities, in fact it's tortuous and much … Continue reading Australia – A day of culture
