Pembrokeshire Day, The Bitches!

Day two we headed for St Davids. Neither of us had any idea what it woukd be like, the campsite owner had recommended it to us.
It looked picturesque as we drove through it, noting the pasty shop for later and headed for the coast. I think she had intended for us to go to White Sands but we ended up at Porth Claiss where we walked the coastal path to St Justinian.
I think I’m in love with Pembrokeshire and Wales in general. The coast seems quieter than Cornwall and just as rugged and old.
This day the sea was so blue there was a touch of the Carribbean about it when we saw a Schooner ( possibly not the right description) anchored in this cove.

The heaths here are a little different with purple Bell heather instead of Ling. There was gorse and ferns and this strange presumably parasitic plant, thats smothered some areas. If anyone can identify it I would be grateful.

I got a bit disoriented, how? Well the sea was on our left but with all the ins and outs a huge chunk of headland suddenly turned out to be an island, Ramsay Island. Neither of us expected it! We also had a good veiw of very stong currents in the Ramsay sound and a area I later discovered called The Bitches renound for sinking ships. Indeed!

We wanted tea and cake but although St Justinian had a pop up tea place, they only took cash and neither of us had any. It was a bit disappointing but we headed back and had our lunch looking over the sound.
Sarah wasnt feeling too good however that didnt stop her going into the sea at Porthlysgi Bay. A lovely bay with purple stones. The sea had gone out and not many people about, due to the hike to get there I suppose. It was deceiving as I dived under the crystal water, my face hurt with the cold. Needless to say I didnt stay in long.
Returning to the van, we drove into St Davids and I was stunned to find it was a city, albeit tiny.
I dont know if its the same the world over but a city is so named if it has a Catherdral and St Davids does, plus a ruined Bishops Palace too.

We explored after tea and Welsh cakes. We also picked up pasties and the biggest icecreams I have ever seen, I really recommend these!

Thanks Sarah and Noah for your company and when are we going again?

More importantly when am I coming back to Pembrokeshire?
