The Antipodean Adventure

Here I go again! Ive been planning this trip since last July. This is my journal and you are invited to read it but its probably going to be rather boring unless you have vested interest in what I’m up to and even then I won’t be offended if you don’t want to follow.

I will try and add any tips I have or discover along the way at the end of each chapter. I’ve gleaned a number from other blogs so it might be useful for others or to remind myself when I loose my marbles.

The start is tinged with sadness because one of my travelling companions Sarah was not well enough to join me and I’ll be travelling solo for much of my time.

It has been a dream of mine to see some more of Australia and visit New Zealand. I last visited Australia in the late 1990’s with my friend Trish who was living in Sydney at the time.

So roughly this is how its going to go; Melbourne for a day, then Tasmania for two weeks including 10 days walking. After this New Zealand for around 6 weeks.

During this time, two weeks will be on a ‘Lee Of The Rings Tour’ with a man I hardly know. (I’ll explain later).
Then I may or may not be; house sitting, sleeping in a car, tent, hostel or random persons shed.
Early May I head back to Oz to meet my dad (something of an 80 year old Steve Backshall as described once by his grandchild) flying in from Scotland. We’ll be on a bird watching frenzie in Queensland before I have few days with “Long Lost Ellen” then home in June.
