Wetwang!

The following day, I was alot more cheery! Wetwang was a rather sweet village and my Airbnb was great!

Amazing what a hot shower and a good nights sleep can do!
While I wasnt really in the area I’d intended to be, (as it was a last minute idea not to camp) I decided a day without driving was in order and I would walk from were I was. My landlady showed me a route out of her garden where I could meet the Chalkland Way.
It was a strangely treacherous walk for the first few miles. It wasn’t wild or remote as I was walking along field edges but, it was clear its not used that much. In places it was overgrown and the ground very pitted. Im glad I decided to wear my boots as I would have turned my ankle and it was hard going.

However the birds were singing, yellow hammers, skylarks and meadow pipits. With Hares running in the scrubland it was glorious!
I walked to Huggate and stopped in a tea room for coffee and walnut cake.

Such a contrast to the day before in weather and my mood, I decided to walk further and crossing more fields into some very well hidden dales which were open access chalkland. The walk back was really lovely along these dales. Initially there were a number of people picnicking but as I moved into the more arable land I hardly saw a soul.
Back to Wetwang and a good pub dinner at the Victora Inn.
In all I had walked thirteen and a half miles and enjoyed every minute of it.
